OEMs commonly outsource Build-to-Specification (BTS) through contract manufacturing to reduce time to market and enable volume production while adhering to quality standards. This enables them to concentrate on their core engineering, the integration of diverse subsystems such as structures, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems, and the verification of the effectiveness and operability, structural integrity and durability, and so on. The drawback of outsourcing is that OEMs lose control over manufacturing approach to meet the specifications, ownership of intellectual property, and the ability to regulate manufacturing costs and price negotiations.
